When a call comes in, your AI receptionist:

Go to AI Receptionist

Open your dashboard and navigate to AI Receptionist in the sidebar.

Configure your greeting

Enter the greeting your AI will say when it answers. For example:
“Thanks for calling [Your Business Name]. I’m an AI assistant — how can I help you today?”
You can also choose a voice that matches your brand tone. Preview voices before saving.

Set your transfer number

Add the phone number the AI should call when it needs to transfer to a human. You can set rules for when transfers trigger — such as during business hours only, or when the caller explicitly asks to speak with someone.

Link your knowledge base

Connect your knowledge base so the AI can accurately answer FAQs about your services, hours, pricing, and location. The more context you provide, the better the AI performs.

Connect your calendar

Link your calendar via the integrations page so the AI can check availability and book appointments live during calls. Boltcall connects with Cal.com and Google Calendar.

Go live

Assign a phone number on the Phone Numbers page — either a new local or toll-free number, or forward your existing business line. Your AI receptionist is now active.

Call routing and transfers

You control when the AI hands off to a human. Transfer rules you can configure:
  • On request — transfer any time the caller asks to speak with someone
  • Business hours only — transfer during your set hours; take messages after hours
  • By keyword — transfer when the caller mentions specific words (e.g., “emergency”, “billing”)
  • After qualification — let the AI gather information first, then transfer with context
When a transfer happens, the AI briefs the receiving agent with the caller’s name and what they need, so the caller does not have to repeat themselves.
